Askmo Smith

DEPORT – Askmo Smith, 91, formerly of Deport died Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009.

Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Highland Cemetery. Wood Funeral Homes has charge of arrangements.

The family receives friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

He was born in Lamar County, March 13, 1918, the son of Orville Albert Thompson and Minnie Carilla Wadley Smith. He was a retired bricklayer and a U.S. World War II Army Veteran. He married Annie Laura Thomas Feb. 18, 1941. She preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1997.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Smith, on March 28, 2001; and nine brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his son, Ronnie Pyles and wife, Robbie, of Paris; grandchildren, Steven Pyles of Paris and Mykal Pyles of Desoto; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
