Area teams compete in tournaments

The holiday break officially ends, but holiday tournaments continue on Monday for several Red River Valley basketball teams who will be playing in their final games of the 2009 part of their schedules.
The North Lamar Panthers and Pantherettes are competing in the Prosper Tournament that begins Monday, while the Chisum boys and girls will be traveling to the Quitman Holiday Invitational.
Three teams are also competing in the Leonard Holiday Tournament as the Cooper girls and boys and the Rivercrest boys make the trip to Leonard.
This will be the 49th annual Leonard Holiday Tournament, making it one of the oldest in Texas.
Cooper’s Bulldogs take on Celeste at noon on Monday in first-round action. If they win, they meet the winner of the Farmersville/Lucas Chrstian game at 8:22 p.m. on Monday.
The Cooper Bulldogettes take on hosts Leonard at 8 a.m. in the first game of the tournament. The winner advances to meet the Quinlan Ford/Anna winner at 7 p.m. on Monday.
The Paris Lady Cats travel to the Kaufman Tournament, which begins Tuesday.
Several other area teams will also resume their seasons on Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Detroit’s boys and girls host Bland.
On Tuesday, the Prairiland Patriots travel to Cumby, while the Detroit girls and boys host Yantis.
Miller Grove is at Roxton on Tuesday.
