Paris High School assistant principal Althea Dixon and several students are going to share their experiences at a recent Challenge Day program at a Diversity Task Force of Paris meeting tonight at Calvary Methodist Church.
A meal will be served at 6 p.m. with the meeting beginning shortly afterwards.
Task force co-chairperons Marva Joe and Mary Clark have emphasized the meeting is open to the public. They encourage school officials and others from all Lamar County schools to attend as well and get involved in efforts to bring greater harmony to our community. Diversity is a community’s greatest asset, and it is important to work through concerns and become involved in the work of the diversity task force.
Following the presentation by Dixon and her students, the group will spend time brainstorming ideas for task force activities for the upcoming year. The meeting should be finished shortly after 8 p.m.
The task force has made great strides in the past two years in addressing diversity issues, but there is still work to be done. Hopefully the task force will continue to grow in numbers as people throughout our community come together to work through issues of concern to us all.
Tonight’s meeting is a great opportunity to become involved in efforts to make Paris a better place to live, work and enjoy the good life Paris has to offer.
