CLARKSVILLE — Trustees for the Clarksville ISD voted to rescind the districtwide mask mandate at Tuesday night’s meeting in the administration building.
Superintendent Kermit Ward recommended that repeal of the mandate due to the number of Covid cases shrinking.
“We are not over Covid, but it is going backwards. Only one person is dealing with it now and she is on the road to recovery,” he said.
He said the district could return to the mask-wearing policy if cases starting rising at a dramatic rate.
“Kids are getting fatigued wearing the mask,” he said of going to campuses and seeing students wearing the masks incorrectly.
He said the rescission would not be a mask ban,
“You are not telling people they cannot wear a mask; they just have the option,” he said.
