Community Faces | War of 1812 Veteran memorial

The Society of the War of 1812 in the State of Texas/Craig Austin Rowley Chapter and the Texas State Society/John Cavet Chapter No. 39 held a grave marker dedication ceremony Sunday at McDonald Cemertery at the grave of Lamar County resident Wiliam F. Scott. Scott was a veteran of the War of 1812 and moved his family to Lamar County in the 1850s. TOP: Those in attendance at the dedication included representatives of the two organizations, descenants of the Scott family and county officials and residents. A color guard in historical costumes offered a volley salute during the ceremony. William F. Scott’s grave marker with flags and brass ceremonial plaques.
